A historic house museum and one of the country's few attractions dedicated exclusively to preserving the material culture of and telling the story of free people of color. Tours available Fridays at 1pm & Saturdays at 11am TOURS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY
This museum tells the story of the free people of color, which is an interesting (and important) part of the city's history.
Check their website as tours have to be booked a month in advance and are available on limited days and times.
One of the factors that influenced the creation of Jazz and other cultural distinctions between New Orleans and other Southern cities was the existence of Free People of Color in New Orleans even as slavery existed. They are the creators of the Creole cuisine which draws people all over the world.
