The oldest continual art gallery in Tryon, began in the upstairs of a friends' house, in the late '70's, early '80's by a group of young local artists (visual and performing) and friends. Now a major attraction in downtown Tryon, The Upstairs hosts frequent art shows, literary readings and events.

Upstairs Artspace provides a visual feast for visitors to this nonprofit art gallery. Featured artists include many from the Carolinas and the Southeast region. The gallery is open Tuesday-Saturday, 11:00 am-5:00 pm. Exhibitions usually change every six to eight weeks.
