Just about any Thai place in Elmhurst destroys whatever Thai you’ve tried in Manhattan. In the last five years, Elmhurst has emerged as Thai-town—for Thais, by Thais. Playground caters to a more youthful element–it doesn't get popping til 10 pm. Downstairs there’s a karaoke bar. Upstairs there’s a Thai hot pot. And they have an entire menu of papaya salads. It has the longest happy hour in the city—possibly the country—from 5 pm to 4 am.
