A wild place with a miniature railway, Light house sculptors houses, a life boat and of course a nuclear reactor. All on the worlds largest expanse of shingle that is actually classified as a desert!
This can be a wild coastal area but it’s certainly different. On a nice day the beach or even a charter boat can be fun as is the Romney Hythe and Dymchurch railway.
Britain's only desert, the wild beach of Dungeness has an atmosphere all its own. It is also home to artist Derek Jarman's preserved Prospect Cottage.
This is an area that time forgot. A shingle beach, fishing boats and the famous garden of Derek Jarmon. The Pilot Inn does the best fish and chips ever! The photo does not do it justice.
Great open space, England’s only desert. Ten minute drive from Rye. Walk on the huge pebble beach, visit the lighthouse, watch the fishermen, visit Dungeness art studio, view the enormous power station, lunch at the Dungeness Fish Shack. Ride on the narrow gauge Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Railway. The sky at night is a haven for star gazing.
