Atchison, Kansas is famous for the birthplace of Emelia Earhart. There is a museum in the visitor center and trolley rides are available various times of the year for a historical tour. If you like architectural and history, this is worth it. Atchison has a downtown outdoor mall with locally owned shops and restaurants.
