the barrage is a breathtaking experience ! walk from penarth to cardiff via the barrage or hire a bike , cafes on route ! or get a water bus and save the legs ! can’t recommend the speed boat trip in cardiff bay enough !! £8 for 15 mins

Watch the boats sail in under the barrage locks. A great walk to the bay, or take the road train.

Cardiff Bay Barrage can be walked across from Mermaid Quay through to Penarth Marina. The barrage itself has a skateboard park, sand play park for children 2-10, views of the bay and a few small coffee shops along the way. A great place to walk and explore or grab a spot on the grass on the barrage to watch sail boats, jet skiers or the extreme sailing events each July
