Cave Falls is a 20 ft tall and 250 ft wide waterfall inside the western boundaries of Yellowstone National Park near the Idaho-Wyoming border. It is 16 miles from the cabin via Cave Falls road. Once you leave the pavement the road is dirt but can be negotiated with 2 wheel drive. It is considered one of the best kept secrets in the park because of relative remoteness.

Cave Falls is approximately 30 miles away, but takes just under an hour to get there. Cave Falls is the WIDEST waterfall in Yellowstone NP. Cave Falls is beautiful. There are many great hikes around the Cave Falls area---be sure to bring your bear spray. :-)
Cave Falls road is the only entrance into Yellowstone Park that does not have an official entrance gate. However, you are still supposed to have an active park pass to go in. This is a good sightseeing drive from Island Park. It's around 60 miles to get there so allow plenty of time for slower gravel roads. You can stop at the Timberline Golf Course for something to eat or drink. Just beware they do not allow dogs on the property and are very strict about it.

Located on the southern border of Yellowstone Park, this quiet and beautiful part of Yellowstone is a great place to visit with families and groups. Take a picnic lunch and eat lunch by this beautiful waterfall off the beaten path. You can drive right up to the Fall River.
