Mga tip mula sa mga tagaroon
Stop in to see the history of the Tucson area and how Native American groups were influenced by missionaries, including the famous Father Kino, from the 1600s-1800s. The architecture is amazing with original buildings still standing. Junior Ranger program available through the National Parks program.
Some weekends there are reenactors at the site, it's always a interesting place to visit, but especially when the tortilla lady is there.
398-2341, off I-19, near Tubac. $3/adults, under 16 free. Grounds and museum open 8 a.m.–5 p.m. daily. Allow one hour. The abandoned ruins of three ancient Spanish colonial missions are here on 45 acres. The mission San Jose de Tumacacori first was listed in 1691 as an outlying vista by Father Kino, and is one the oldest in Arizona. Tumacacori contributed a herd of cattle to the Anza expedition and Father Font, a member of Anza’s colony, stayed here while Anza marshaled his forces at Tubac.

Just beyond Tubac down 97 (drive the old highway, it is more interesting) is the Tumacacori Mission and across the street the Tumacacori Bar, maybe open, maybe not, but it has a history too. A little further south is the Santa Cruz Chili Company, spices of all kinds. Incidentally, 97 is the only road that stretches from northern Canada to the tip of South America (we'll ignore the bit that sort of doesn't make it through the Panamanian swamps.
