One of the most famous sights in the area of Argostoli, just beyond the famous Katavothres and just at the entrance of Argostoli bay, in the area called Agioi Theodoroi (from the homonymous chapel) is the Fanari. The Saint Theodoros Lighthouse was inaugurated in 1928 and joined the Greek Lighthouse network in 1863. It is a work by J.P.Kennedy. In 1953 in the earthquakes of Kefalonia the lighthouse was destroyed to be reconstructed later according to the original plans.
