A transport museum that is located in the historic Newfoundland Railway terminal on Water Street and contains exhibits detailing the history of the Newfoundland Railway and the history of coastal water transportation in the province.
We don't have rail anymore on the island, but it was once an important part of our history. This museum exhibit tells you how and why.
Located at 495 Water Street, St. John's Newfoundland, the Railway Coastal Museum is housed in the original refurbished Riverhead Train Station built in 1903. The museum is a non-profit organization dedicated to interpreting the history of the Newfoundland railway system from its inception in the late 1880's to its closure in 1988 as well as the history of the provincial Coastal Boat Service.
