National Road 7C (DN7C), nicknamed Transfăgărăşan (the prefix "trans-" + Fagaras) connects the historical region of Wallachia and Transylvania, crossing the Fagaras Mountains, the highest mountain group in Romania, part of the Carpathians. It is a paved road, reaching near Lake Balea tunnel at an altitude of 2042 m. [1] Thus, Transfăgărăşanul ranks second in the standings altitude alpine roads in Romania, after Transalpina (DN67C) dinMunţii Parang, which goes up to 2145 m. The road starts from the national road DN 7, in the village climbs Bascov near Pitesti and Arges river valley, passing through the town of Curtea de Arges.
