Locals power walk along here at dawn to catch the early morning breeze, spot turtles and occasionally dolphins. I'd recommend going early morning or late afternoon to beat the heat. Great lookout points for those iconic Four Mile Beach photos, benches to rest along the way and a couple of water drinking fountains to keep you hydrated make this a well thought out trail.

The Flagstaff Hill Walking Trail provides spectacular views of the Coral Sea and Low Isles, all the way to Snapper Island and the Daintree Rainforest. The 1.5km trail provides a link between Four Mile Beach and Rex Smeal Park in Port Douglas. If you need a picture worth framing (or posting) look no further than the Flagstaff Hill Lookout. Located at the summit of Island Point Road, it is an easy walk, bike ride or even short drive to the lookout viewing area From here you will witness sweeping, majestic views of Four Mile Beach and the rainforest-clad mountain ranges to the south. Venture along the Flagstaff Hill Walking Trail down to Four Mile Beach and walk the plank (or viewing platform) and take in the 180-degree views to the Coral Sea, Low Isles and Snapper Island to the north. Find the hidden Low Isles Lighthouse viewing platform located on the corner where Wharf and Island Point Roads meet. The lookout is accessed via steps at 4 Mile Beach’s north end, and is both the most beautiful spot in the region from which to take in a sunrise, or to watch a full moon casting its glow over the waters of the Coral Sea. On the return trip down from the lookout, you’ll also be able to see the actual “flagstaff” from which the hill derives its name – an object used to signal ships in years past.
