In its hey day, during Victorian times, this was a world reknowned exhibition centre made almost entirely of glass, a new technology at the time, and the brainchild of Queen Victoria's Consort, Prince Albert. It burnt down under suspicious circumstances and the museum tells the story. The grounds are magnificent and represent the first real exhibition of life-size dinosaurs which can be seen in the lake and surrounding areas.
