Officially the Metropolitan Cathedral Basilica of Saint Catherine of Alexandria (Spanish: Catedral Basílica Metropolitana de Santa Catalina de Alejandría), is located in the historic centre of Cartagena. It is the episcopal see of the Archbishop of Cartagena de Indias, one of the oldest episcopal sees in the Americas. The cathedral is dedicated to Saint Catherine of Alexandria.

Esta catedral está ubicado al lado de la Plaza de Bolívar y es una pequeña pero impresionante catedral, vale la pena una visita, y un gran lugar para tomar un descanso del sol.

INGLES: It is located in the historic center of the city of Cartagena de Indias, in the Plaza de la Proclamación, corner of Parque de Bolívar, and is one of the oldest episcopal seats in the New World. The cathedral is in the Herrerian style, which corresponds to the third and final stage of Spanish Renaissance architecture. It was designed by the master builder Simón González, who designed it taking as a model some basilicas in Andalusia and the Canary Islands.1 Although, the current tower was designed by the French architect Gastón Lelarge, the result of a remodeling carried out at the beginning of the 20th century. . The building has a basilica plan, divided by three naves, and has a series of chapels adjacent to the gospel nave. ESPAÑOL: Se localiza en el centro histórico de la ciudad de Cartagena de Indias, en la Plaza de la Proclamación, esquina del Parque de Bolívar, y es una de las sedes episcopales más antiguas del Nuevo Mundo. La catedral es de estilo herreriano, que corresponde con la tercera y última etapa de la arquitectura renacentista española. Fue diseñada por el maestro constructor Simón González, quien la diseñó tomando como modelo algunas basílicas andaluzas y de las Islas Canarias.1 Aunque, la actual torre fue diseñada por el arquitecto francés Gastón Lelarge, fruto de una remodelación realizada a principios del siglo xx. El edificio es de planta basilical, dividida por tres naves, y cuenta con una serie de capillas contiguas a la nave del evangelio.
