While both Sosua and nearby Cabarete (10 minute drive) have a number of small shops selling art, souvenirs, clothing, jewelry and more, the nearest shopping malls can be found in Puerto Plata which is the 3rd largest city in the DR. One such mall, Playa Dorada, is small but sells a variety of souvenirs, swimsuits, sandals and more. Comparison-shop before you purchase, though, because many stores sell the same or similar items. La Sirena and other super stores and electronics and furniture stores can be found on or just off the main highway leading into Puerto Plata from Sosua. Puerto Plata also has a fair number of clubs, bars and restaurants that offer food and drinks.
