Evans Notch is a mountain pass located in the White Mountains in Maine, about 1 mile east of the New Hampshire border. The scenic route meanders along the Wild River with places to stop if you want to enjoy the river or take pictures. There are many hikes and swimming places to check out. Stop and have a picnic at the Basin and then take a hike around the pond. Swimming areas: Wild River Rattlesnake pool - at the base of Blueberry Mountain is a highlight and close to parking (less than 1/2 mile or so). Emerald Pool - A short hike to the swimming spot where you can jump off of rocks into a refreshing body of water. A bit further down Route 113, in Chatham, NH. Hiking: Hastings Caribou West / Mud Brook Royce Mountain Laughing Lion Blueberry Mountain Baldface / Baldface circle trail Campgrounds: Hastings Campground Bull Brook Road Campground Basin Campground Cold River Camp: AMC
