Zurich, one of the world's most beautiful and liveable cities, can be reached by car in 30 minutes. Here you will find insider tips on how best to discover Zurich. 1. CHAGALL WINDOW / FRAUENMÜNSTER Directly on the Limmat and close to the lake is the Frauenmünster church with its wonderful Chagall windows. Chagall painted impressive scenes from the Bible in different colours. Top tip: True Chagall fans should go to the nearby Kronenhalle restaurant afterwards. The schnitzel is very expensive (50 CHF), but the original Chagall paintings on the walls and the menu designed by Chagall quickly make you forget the price. 2. STROLL ALONG BAHNHOFSTRASSE Zurich's main shopping street stretches from the main station to the lake. The entire length of the Bahnhofstrasse invites you to shop. Some of Switzerland's most expensive and exclusive fashion shops await you here, as do the flagship boutiques of the luxury watch brands for which Switzerland is famous. Small cobbled streets branch off to either side - a lovely place to stroll. Top tip: When your legs get tired from shopping, head to Paradeplatz. Café Sprüngli with its sophisticated glamour is the perfect place to relax with coffee and cake. The richly stocked windows in the chocolate boutique in the basement are also worth a diversion! 3. UP TO THE UETLIBERG The Uetliberg is Zurich's local mountain. It may not be as high as the Alps on the other side of the lake, but from here you can appreciate the full size and beauty of the conurbation. Take the S-Bahn S10 to Sihltal Zürich Uetliberg; from there it's a short climb to the summit, where you can choose between the panorama platform and an observation tower. When you've taken enough photos, you can take the train back or hike through the forest back to the city. 4. WALK THROUGH THE NIEDERDORF Much of the typical Zurich flair comes from the city's historic streets and alleys, which, unlike many European metropolises, are absolutely well-kept. Niederdorf on the banks of the Limmat is particularly old-fashioned - you should come here if you want to eat fondue or raclette. In addition to the cheese-rich specialities, the cobblestone streets of the district also offer many small shops, art galleries and arthouse cinemas as well as small bars and cafés, because of which the area is also lively in the evenings. Top tip: Walk to the tram stop at Niederdorf station, from where you can take the UBS Polybahn to the terrace of ETH University. This beautiful square in front of the main university building offers great views over the city. Here you can also enjoy the sunset with a drink. 5. OFF INTO THE WATER One of the most beautiful things about Zurich is the omnipresence of water! Both the calm waters of Lake Zurich and the rather icy Limmat are great for swimming. Everywhere along the lake there are public lakeside baths where you can find beautiful nature, changing rooms, lockers and showers for a small entrance fee. Most also have their own children's areas, diving boards and offer various activities such as stand-up paddling (SUP). Top tip: i recommend Badi Enge for relaxed swimming or Oberer Letten (about a 15-minute walk along the river from the main station) for a summer party atmosphere. 6. VISIT CIRCLE 5 AND THE VIADUCT Zurich's modern district stretches around Hardbrücke station to the Limmat. The main attraction here is the Viadukt, an innovative shopping mall under the 30 brick arches of an elevated railway - each arch has a café or boutique. Mostly young Swiss design brands are on sale here: from fashion to bicycles to household goods. The skyline here is dominated by the Freitag Container Tower and the glass façade of the Prime Tower, Zurich's tallest building. 7. VISIT TO THE NATIONAL MUSEUM If you want to understand the country and people of Switzerland, the Landesmuseum Zurich is a good place to start! Located right on the river next to the main railway station, this museum is fully dedicated to the long history of Switzerland. Here y

Visit Switzerlands small metropole. Zurich offers architecture, a lot of culture, shopping and party. Do not miss: Uetliberg, Niederdörfli, Bahnhofstrasse, the lake and chocolates from Läderach.
