Gorgeous changing shadows created anew with every sunrise and sunset. The Apache Trail was followed by Indians to cross the Superstition mountains.

Anchored east of Phoenix is the Superstition Mountains. Lost Dutchman's Mine ring a bell? Legend has it, that it's out there. Some where,..... along with all the other ledgends. Weavers Needle, a prominent landmark set behind and to the east of Superstition Mountain, is a tall eroded volcanic remnant that plays a significant role in the legend of the Lost Dutchman's Gold Mine. But we're talking about hiking, and there's plenty of trails in the Supers for you. Whether a simple stroll to see wildflowers, or the challenging Flatiron trail. I've done both. The Flatiron by far is my favorite. It's a strenuous hike! Not for the cutesy clothes wearing hikers. Be prepared for a rugged adventure, and the mother of all scrambling walls. Take lots of water..... I repeat.... take lots of water. Downloading the trail map from AllTrails is highly advisable. Now the view...... is simply amazing!

This is an all day event where you can drive to Canyon Lake afterwards which is beautiful and not to far of a drive from here as superstition mountain has a ghost town / mining tourist attraction to see which is free as well.
