Cascade River road fully opens towards the end of June or early July. We strongly recommend driving up to Cascade pass (~14 miles up the road from the home). The parking lot is in a beautiful glacial basin and there is a fantastic hike called "Cascade pass trail" that takes you to amazing views of the valley and deeper into the mountains (should you so choose). The hike is a legit hike with a lot of elevation gain and some snow crossing (earlier in the summer).
