Made famous by Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales, the university city boasts some of England’s finest medieval architecture, including one of its oldest cathedrals. The incredible Canterbury Cathedral houses the famous shrine of medieval archbishop Thomas Beckett. St Augustine’s Abbey and St Martin’s Church are also spectacular historical sites, and together with the cathedral form a UNESCO heritage site. The Canterbury Tales recreates the sights, sounds and smells of Chaucer’s medieval England. The Marlowe Theatre can be found in the city centre and is one of the South East's most popular theatres. Offering the biggest and best in touring productions, you can enjoy West End musicals, drama, international opera and ballet, classical music, stand-up comedy, music gigs, children's shows and pantomime. For shopping, visit the Whitefriars shopping district or The Kings Mile. There are plenty of pubs, cafes and restaurants to suit a multitude of tastes.

Great for shopping and entertainment , cathedral city 30 mins from Broadstairs. Marlowe theatre for west end shows and concerts
A vibrant town of lovely old buildings and the famous cathedral, where Thomas Becket met his end at the hands of the knights of Henry II. An ancient place of pilgrimage as told in the Canterbury Tales. The Beaney House of Art & Knowledge is worth a visit and also houses the Tourist Information Office. A great town for shopping too. Then lunch perhaps at the historic cafe The Weavers, right by the river. There is a handy Park & Ride system for car parking.
