Kings Barrow Quarryis another disused quarry that has been turned into a nature reserve - great for exploring, getting a sense of the quarry workers' achievements and if you're interested in geology you can see all indifferent strata. If you walk through the quarry you come to the High Angle Batteries - a defensive system to protect Weymouth Bay from invasion by the French. The nearby Verne Citadel was built in the hillside to house a garrison but is now a prison. The Jailhouse Cafe has the best views on the whole of the island and is worth visiting.
