One of the most picturesque villages in Hertfordshire and a popular filming spot for tv shows such as Inspector Morse. There is a nice pub. You can either drive straight into the village, or park at the Bridgewater Monument and walk down the hill into the village.

Once the home to William of Normandy (William the Conquerer), then gifted to his brother. Built in 1066 after the Battle of Hastings. This was a motte and bailey castle. Now in ruins, but worth a wander around. 5 mins walk away behind the station.

Berkhamsted is an old market town and the market still operates along the High Street on a Wednesday and Saturday morning. There is also a visiting Farmers' market on the first Sunday of every month. We recommend the bread & bakery stall.
