We will first talk about the fascinating history of this old art form, as well as how it is related to Japanese customs and the philosophy of wabi sabi. Then, I will show you how to make your first kokedama. Making kokedamas involves turning peat moss into a soil ball and then wrapping it in sheet moss to create a self sustaining pot to hold your plant. Each person will have their own station to create TWO kokedamas, that will eventually be taken home. Back by popular demand! You will learn basic woodworking techniques by creating your very own air plant holder. A variety of woods will be available to choose from. You'll create a unique shape for your planter or you can use one of my ready-made templates. After cutting out your creation on the bandsaw and shaping it on the belt sander, I will show you how to expertly sand and finish your piece so that you can proudly display your holder at home, or give it as a gift. The tour would include stops at several murals that reflect these themes, Often murals are sometimes vandalized or destroyed for many reasons and some remain unaffected. The guide would provide background information on the artists and their personal stories and experiences. The guide is a local artist from a well known worldwide known graffiti crew and has various city sponsored public art projects that can be viewed in person everyday. Join us in our beautiful kitchen for this class where you will learn how to make many delicious vegan dishes from all over the world. We will explain cooking basics along the way, and teach you how to make specialty items such as vegan ricotta and gluten free vegan ravioli. We want to help you build cooking expertise and confidence, and allow your creativity in the kitchen to explode. The standard session is based in the cultural hub of Bunker Hill in Downtown Los Angeles. We’ll seek out the most beautiful landmarks & hidden locations in this area. The best time I recommend is early morning to avoid the crowds. However, if you would prefer a different time slot that's also possible. The session will take place in a relaxed atmosphere & I'll guide you on different poses so no previous experience in front of the camera is necessary. I'll send you all useable images that have been edited to perfection the next day of our shoot. Additional rates apply for other locations and extending the session.
