Walking distance from Tree Tops Retreat. Very popular for fishing on the river and out on the breakwater. Local canoe hire available near the kiosk. Easiest boat launch is just across the bridge - you can't miss it. If you have your own canoe/kayak, you can launch at the end of the golf course and paddle 10 kms downstream to the sea - beautiful, but need to consider the tides. Always plenty of Osprey, White Belly Sea Eagles and Rays.

Bound by the native bushland of Bundjalung National Park, this secluded beach is accessed via a 5 min drive from Evans Head township. Follow the walking track from the Chinamans Beach car park, down to Chinamans Beach and turn right to explore one of the most peaceful spots along the North Coast ... numerous rock pools and plenty of Pandanus Tree shade. Continue past the The Bluff (watch out for high tide) to New Zealand Beach and follow the trail around Snapper Point. Spectacular and wild. Surf conditions can be rough here when the winds drive in from the south-west to north-west, creating a south-east to north-east swell.

Stunning headland walk linking Connor Hurley Point, Joggly Point Red Hill Beach through to Chinamens Beach - finish at Dirrawong Reserve. In our opinion, this is the the finest coastal walk in northern NSW. Start at the water tower on Ocean Drive and after emerging at Dirrawong reserve, follow the road back. Allow a couple of hours
