A short distance from Castiglione, the imposing fortress of the Rocca di Tentennano dominates the village of Rocca d'Orcia, rising up still today to guard over the Orcia valley below, where pilgrims, merchants, and travelers once made their way along the Via Francigena. Through the courtyard, visitors can enter the halls that once housed a garrison of soldiers and climb up to the top of the keep, from which they can enjoy a sweeping view of the countryside.
