Less of a hike and more of a nice walk (constant grade for miles), but in the winter it provides great snowshoeing and decent nordic skiing for free. Access via multiple north-south city streets. Take a quick look on google maps and see which ones run all the way up. The rail trail in the green dotted line in google maps.

A 5-minute drive across the orange bridge. It’s a moderately difficult hike straight uphill. Sometimes bears on the trail but it’s well-used and populated. Will take you 60-90 minutes round trip depending on fitness level. This is iconic for Nelson.
