ZR Vans are plentiful and inexpensive.
BB$3.00 will get you to Bridgetown on a ZR van or Bus.
All roads lead to Bridgetown. If you get lost check the bus stop signs; ’to city’ or ‘out of city’…
Mini Vans, Buses and Taxis have a Blue text license plate prefixed by ZR
Hire cars have HR, and all other plates relate to the parish the driver lives in...we have 11 parishes: 10 Saints. and 1 Church... enjoy the discovery!
I suggest you rent a vehicle, so you can explore at your own pace.; As the map maker for the Caribbean islands i have included a complimentary A-Z Atlas for your use.

Bring bathing suits, sarong, slip on shoes & sunscreen
Barbados is mostly casual but if you plan a special dinner or 2 bring something a little more dressy, linens and cottons work a treat.
Please cover up when going into public places from the beach,

Greetings
DO Greet EVERYONE you pass, especially as you 'enter' a 'space'. We LOVE to greet one another, with good mornings and good afternoons and if someone says good night you're not being told to head to bed....our good night means a very good evening!

Local Delights
Do stop roadside and pick up a fresh bottle of coconut water.
Saturdays the local food is 'pudding and souse' - veggies ask for pickle and breadfruit.!!!

Understanding Road Traffic
You need a local driver’s license, apply online
We drive on the left
Seat belts mandatory. No texting whilst driving
Keep your Barbados license & insurance in the car
Don’t leave valuables in the car
Speed limits - 25mph on urban/secondary roads and 50mph on major highways
At roundabouts give way to the right
If a driver flashes their head lights, you're being given right of way, a quick, short, gentle toot of your horn serves as a thank you.
Roads get slippery after gentle rain, use caution
Limited pavements - respect cyclists and pedestrians
