My favorite parks
These parks have so many various qualities I love, but most of all, each has different hiking experiences, flora and fauna.
Lime Kiln Point State Park

15 San Juan Park RdThis is such an amazing park with easy rambling trails and gorgeous views… it has a totally different landscape than the rest of the island and the wildlife and flora change each season! Be sure to look for the short eared owls in the winter at sunset and dusk. Also shrike in the late winter along Redoubt Rd… such a treat to see the elusive “butcher bird”. Also on a rare occasion we have had a visit from the Burrowing owl in the late winter early spring. And then of course there are the famous Fox of American Camp that have made their dens here for decades.
American Camp Access West
