It is very safe to walk around the village. Ponta is a small village so everything is within walking distance.

It's best to use local currency at the markets. The exchange fluctuates and it is easier for locals to stick with their local monies. You can draw cash out the ATM in the town centre. Always draw the max amount as it will save on your bank charges.

If you don't like sand..... well....its all sand but bring shoes which you will find most comfortable. This is the beach so I recommend slops!!
