Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservatory (The Domes)
524 S Layton BlvdThe domes were constructed between 1959 and 1967 (The Show Dome, the Tropical Dome, and the Arid Dome), and they contain a vast array of flora that one observer called “a zoo for plants.” First Lady Lady Bird Johnson officially dedicated the Show Dome at its opening ceremony in 1965. A nice place to take kids.

It's especially worth the trip if there's a good special exhibit there (and there usually is). If you are so inclined, check out the latest IMAX show (connected in the same building) and / or stroll through the Central Public Library (across the street) after your visit.

Green Gallery is tiny, but it consistently puts together exhibitions which are well-considered, showcases a good mix of both Milwaukee-based and out-of-town artists, and is connected to the greater contemporary art world.
