My favourite places to swim.
Wallagoot Gap is a spectacular gorge cut into the rock by the ocean. The Gap is a popular swimming spot where the water is channeled over a small reef and through the tall rock walls. The seclusion created by the tall walls of the beach give some protection from the wind and waves.

This pristine estuary is situated on the inside of Pambula Beach’s southern headland, surrounded by a national park. It is beautifully sheltered from the wind and swell coming from the south, making it a kayaking, SUPing and fishing paradise. Bring your watercraft of choice, or simply dive in and let the current gently carry you as the river flows to the sea.
Just around the point is Lions Beach, where you can sit on the soft sand, watch happy dogs race up and down or just keep your eyes on the water and wait for dolphins and sea birds to cruise by (and whales too, if you're here during spring).

The beach hub of Merimbula during summer, everyone loves Bar Beach!
Walk along the rocks towards the lake for a more secluded swim, or down towards the mouth for some excellent snorkeling. Bar Beach is quite sheltered and is often a good spot to avoid the wind.
A pretty walk along the lake can take to towards town, where you'll pass through lush green gullies and enjoy views of the emerald water along the way - eventually taking you to Spencer Park. (Or you can walk to Bar Beach from town along this track).

'A SOUTH COAST GEM'
Oaklands Barn is a unique destination for all ages and tastes, at Pambula on the beautiful NSW Far South Coast.
The Oaklands Barn site is home to a number of different businesses.
The design of historic Australian rural buildings were used as the inspiration for the architecture and decor of Oaklands. With so much happening everyday at Oaklands, this charming, country style creates a rural sanctuary- all just 8kms from pristine Pambula Beach.
Oaklands Barn is locally owned and operated and is very much a family enterprise. We care about what we do and love seeing locals and visitors enjoy themselves during a visit to Oaklands.

Dulcie’s Cottage is an original weatherboard cottage in Merimbula, built in 1925 by Arthur and Dulcie Goodsill.
They raised their family of 10 in this sweet little cottage and called it home.
The cottage has been reimagined into a watering hole that serves cocktails and craft beers from behind a long bar surrounded by taxidermy and bric a brac.
Our walls are covered in photos of the Goodsill's growing up in the cottage as well as old photos of the area.
In the beer garden we have a 1950’s Carapark caravan that serves a concise menu of delicious burgers, local oysters and tasty fries.
Come and visit!

Tathra Wharf is a prime spot to watch the whale migration in Spring, and its historic timbers have plenty of room for spectators.
While the Wharf stands proud above the waters, below is a wonderland for scuba divers and snorkellers. Migratory whales, fur seals and fairy penguins from the colony on Montague Island sometimes frequent the waters around the Wharf and are quite willing to let you be a part of their underwater world.

City/town information
Travelling inland along the valley of the Bega River, the road ambles through rich dairy and beef country, passing the historic pastoral estate of Kameruka, and arriving at the delightful little village of Candelo. Built around the crossroads of Merimbula, Bega and Bombala in the early 1830s, Candelo remains a meeting place and through fare for travellers and, increasingly, musicians and artists.
Set on the banks of the Candelo River and with a population of just 300, you’ll be surprised by the local fare and busy events calendar. On the first Sunday of each month the town hosts one of the region’s oldest markets and there are regular music festivals, open recordings and performances at the historical town hall and St Peter’s Church.
