Located in the heart of the city of La Pocatière, the Montagne du Collège offers 5 km of hiking trails, some of which were laid out more than a hundred years ago. The mountain is composed of solid quartzite of superior hardness, having resisted glacial erosion. This rock formation, called monadnocks, is conducive to the creation of caves. The best known of the Montagne du Collège are the Grotte des Fées and the Traversée des Thermopyles, accessible by the Le Sommet trail. Also accessible by this trail, a lookout offers a view of the St. Lawrence River. Several trails provide access to other mountain attractions, a flower garden, La Roche à Canon, Le Calvaire dating from 1904 and a cemetery of some historical importance.
