Sunnie's is my go-to for a dirty hot chai. It's about a five-minute walk from my place (less if you walk fast like me). This is the neighborhood's favorite spot for breakfast burritos, quesadillas, and espresso drinks.

I recommend either trying an assortment of their appetizers or going all-in on the fried rice. Yum! Also, just a great spot to hang at the bar.

This is a fun, hip neighborhood, probably the best "downtown" area in all of SD. Every eatery you walk into here will impress. Plus, there's tons of breweries.

This restaurant has fresh, tasty seafood, but even more impressive is the view of San Diego Harbor. If you're lucky, you might even see the Seaworld fireworks from the other side of Point Loma. I would go right before sunset.

Balboa Park features outstanding architecture, waterworks, exotic trees, lush fields, gardens, and art galleries. The famous San Diego Zoo is here, as well as several great museums. My number one recommendation is the Japanese Friendship Garden - so beautiful, so peaceful.

Coronado is a pseudo-island that is home to a military airbase and a charming little beach town. I drive across the bridge just to walk around and look at all the pretty houses, which can also be done by bike. Shopping on Orange Ave and visiting Hotel Del Coronado are musts!

Always check both Uber and Lyft
One will always be cheaper; it's best to have both apps and compare pricing.

Unfortunately, San Diego does not boast a thriving public transportation system. You can get around with the buses, but they do not run very late. I would recommend downloading the Transit app if you are planning on using public transport. Renting a bike or electric scooter will get you around Point Loma easily.

The key to dressing in San Diego is layers
The day might start foggy and chilly, but come noon, that sun is bright and hot and you'll be annoyed you wore jeans instead of a hat and sunscreen. Then, as soon the as the sun sets, the wind picks up and you'll be annoyed you left your jacket behind. Layers.

Everyone you meet in OB will be super-friendly. With that said, I would not bring a wallet filled with cash to the beach and then go for a swim. Kellogg's Beach is a family-friendly beach on the bayside where your wallet will remain untouched. OB, however, requires a little more street smarts.
