Right when you walk down from the main pool to the beach
(by the loungers) you will no doubt run into “Rojo” (short for Roger) from Los Tres Hermanos. They do all of the water sports and dinner cruises, etc. The short 30-minute boat cruise to the Arch & Lover’s Beach (also Scooby-Doo rock!) is a good idea; it’s inexpensive and gives you a good lay of the land in Cabo (location of the marina, Lands’ End, the hotel corridor, etc. Plus, it‘s always nice to get on the water one way or the other! Tell Rojo you’re staying with Señor Siegel in #1605 and that he told you he would hook you up!

Boasting two PGA Senior Slam events (1996, 1999), Cabo Real offers a memorable, well-balanced test of golf. Uphill holes generally play downwind, while downhill holes usually play into the prevailing onshore breeze. Jones and his design team artfully contoured the green complexes and containment mounds to mimic the shapes of the richly hued mountain peaks in the Sierra de la Laguna that frame the course.

ATM & Paying in Cabo
There is an ATM in the market right at Villa La Estancia.
The US dollar is accepted in Cabo, so there is no need to bring
pesos. The credit card companies generally give the prevailing

Groceries
Your stay at Vida Mar includes basic groceries included in your suite, and additional grocery deliveries or pre-stock are available for a fee. Vida Mar is also stocked with all the essentials for your convenience. If you’d like to shop yourself, there is a medium sized market at Villa La Estancia, and there is a Walmart in the main shopping center in Cabo right across the street. There is also a Costco not too far. Mednau Selecto is a higher-end grocery store in San Jose. It’s about a 20 minute drive, but nice if you plan to cook in the condo a lot during your stay.

Resort Meal Plan at Villa La Estancia
The resort offers an unlimited food and dessert meal plan that is
available for the extra cost (alcohol is not included). As of December 2021, adults are $89 per day, and children under 12 are $44.50 per day. If you would like to purchase a meal plan, everyone staying in the same room is required to purchase as well. The meal plan is also valid at the two neighboring sister resorts, Villa del Palmar and Villa del Arco.

Parking in Cabo
Parking in town can be difficult. The curbs are painted different
colors and most are reserved or prohibited. If you’re ticketed,
(they target tourist/rental vehicles), they take your license plate
and you have to go to the police station to pay the fine and get
it back (which can take a long time). If it does happen, you should
be able to give one of the hosts at the Resort $20 to do it for you.
There are a couple of surface lots in the middle of town that work
well, and the parking structure at the Puerto Paraiso Mall is an
easy in-and-out garage in a central location.

Renting a Car
Should you need other rides during your stay, airport shuttles are about $25/each way per person, Uber is +/-$40, and a private cab is generally around $80-$100 each way. If you want to rent a car, Cactus is the cheapest and is near the airport (they run a 5-minute shuttle). Their phone number is 011-52-624-146-1839. If you negotiate, they will rent you a Jetta for about $50/day, or Suburban for around $120/day.

Whatsapp, Texting, & Calling
Many American phone carrier plans include texting and calling to Mexican numbers without additional cost. Be sure to check your specific plan before you arrive to be sure. If you're not sure, or you know your plan does not include service in Mexico, you can use "Whatsapp" instead. It's helpful to have Whatsapp while in Cabo, it will allow you to communicate and make calls and texts for free. Many locals use it.

Call your credit card companies ahead of time
Before you travel, be sure to call your bank and credit card companies and let them know that you will be in Mexico. Otherwise, charges will often be flagged as fraudulent since they are being made in another country, and your cards could be blocked for use.
