City/town information
We are located in Duns, a town of about 2600 inhabitants, although we are quite close to the town centre we are quite tucked away, surrounded by gardens. All the basic needs can be met by our local shops, a few larger towns are about half an hour's drive away and also connected by a bus service. There are walks from our doorstep, and we have a nature reserve on the edge of town with walks of varying length, although some paths are not accessible at the moment because of last winter's storms. There are more walks a short drive away. We have a couple of places serving food in town, and there are more pubs in villages a short drive away:
The best place to eat in Duns is the Jim Clark Bistro at the moment, I believe. The White Swan does standard pub food, which I hear is okay. Alas the best pub in town is currently being renovated. Slightly further afield there is the Allanton Inn in Allanton which I hear does good food. We would recommend booking both the Bistro and the Allanton Inn.
