Food scene
Fantastic little pizzeria down one of the many lanes in St. Andrew's town centre. I recommend booking in advance as it's a very popular spot! The food is mouth-watering and the ambiance will make you think that you really are in Italy.

For the nights when you want to get dressed up, treat yourself to a night at The Adamson, be sure to arrive early to enjoy cocktails at the bar before your meal. The food will not disappoint, and neither will the drinks!

Sightseeing
This iconic beach has a claim to fame as the beach from Chariots of Fire! If the sun is shining, grab your suncream and a towel and head down to the beach for spectacular views of the town. It's also a popular spot for kite-surfing, check out Blown Away, if beach sports are what you're looking for!
Otherwise, it's a great beach for walking dogs, taking the kids or your morning run! The West Sands is within walking distance from the house.

City/town information
St. Andrews is famous for a few things! It's the home of golf and Tom Morris, there's no escaping the love for golf that the town has, there are plenty of golf shops, courses and of course the R&A clubhouse. St. Andrews is also home to the oldest university in Scotland, its reputation rivals Oxbridge and is where Prince William and Kate met. The town is built around a beautiful coastline with coastal paths linking to other small fishing villages in the East Neuk of Fife, each with their own charm and breathtaking views. St. Andrews is a hotspot for restaurants and bars which rival the likes of those found in the big cities like Glasgow and Edinburgh. I've included a few of my favourite places to dine in this guidebook.

Shopping
For the bookworms, this shop is a must visit. It is conveniently located right next door to the property. I would recommend setting time aside to go in and enjoy the wealth of books and helpful staff, they even offer tea and coffee whilst you browse. They often stock 1st Editions and signed copies, along with a great selection of Scottish books. Good luck leaving without a handful of new books!

Bars/ Pubs
There is a little bar in the ground floor of this hotel and is a favourite in our family for a little night cap. They even allow dogs in! And for those warm sunny nights, there is a terrace out front with great views of the North Sea.

Cafes
This cafe will test your will-power! Beautiful home baking is on offer as well as lunch fare. They offer take away but I recommend eating in, as there has been a lot of effort put into the interior, a real traditional little tea room. Highly recommend.

I would advise booking restaurants before you arrive.
The town is always busy during the summer months, but now due to Covid-19 restrictions the restaurants will be operating at lower capacity, so I would book early to avoid disappointment.

Walking is the best way to see St. Andrews
The town is very compact and walkable, however when you do plan to drive, be wary of parking restrictions, a lot of the town is paid parking.
It would be advisable to have a car if you are planning on playing golf or wanting to visit other towns around St. Andrews.
However if you don't drive , there are busses which connect St. Andrews to the neighbouring towns and big cities. The coastal path is also a great way to explore the neighbouring towns on foot.
