Bedford has a number of eclectic restaurants for you to try! Among some of our favorites are Liberty Station, OIP Pizza and Town Kitchen and Provisions (TKP).
Bedford is a beautiful little town that encompasses 8.75 square miles with a population of around 7,000. A visit to the D-Day Memorial and The Bedford Museum are a must. Enjoy poking around the many small shops and grab lunch/dinner at a local restaurant. The Bedford Farmer's Market is a seasonal treat! Bedford county is 769 square miles with a population of about 80,000. There are many historical sites and outdoor activities to enjoy. Thomas Jefferson's home, Poplar Forest, offers tours and hosts special events throughout the year. Virginia's largest lake, Smith Mountain Lake, boasts great fishing as well as varied water sports. Spend a day at the beach at Smith Mountain Lake or rent a boat! North of the county you can find the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Appalachian Trail, The Peaks of Otter and many other hiking trails. Some of our favorites are the Sharp Top trail, Falling Water Cascades and Apple Orchard Falls. The Johnson's Farm trail leads to an old homestead that you can explore. You will not lack fun activities to enjoy while visiting the area!

Boat Rental on Smith Mountain Lake
I recommend booking your boat as soon as you know your travel dates. There are several places to rent but they do get booked quickly in the summertime. Places also rent skis and tubes. Our favorite place to book is Westlake Boat Rentals. Their boats are always on the new side and very clean!

Hiking and picnicking are always free. Our area offers lots of great places for both! Grab your family/friends and your camera and go make some memories! You will find a picnic basket to use at our Airbnb!

Local Parks
Liberty Lake Park is a public park between our Airbnb and the town of Bedford. It has playground equipment, a lake with ducks and hiking trails.
Falling Creek Park is also close by and offers a playground, hiking and biking trails, a skateboard park and covered picnic areas.
