Food Scene
This is our top brunch recommendation. Great food, staff, and vibes make this the local fave for meeting friends to catch up.
Don't be too just when choosing a seat - there's another dining room upstairs and a fantastic outdoor seating out back.
Christina's go-to is the breakfast tacos.

Not your typical RSA - this absolute local gem houses the RSA plus four sports clubs. It's got a members (and guests) only bar, but the new eatery ESSC Eats (Google it) has its own dining room and entrance, and is open to everyone. Recently started by a young local couple, the food is excellent and rivaled only by the actual best views of any establishment in the area.

They've got all the essentials, plus a much better than average selection of craft beer and wine, and picnic treats.
Grab the picnic basket and ice pack from your room, and fill it up here for your day's adventure.

Another local favourite!
The Still Room labels itself as a 'boutique gastropub' and as you'd expect it's more upmarket than the word 'pub' might evoke.
We love to go for drinks and a sharing plate (or, their chips are legendary), but also highly recommend it for a nicer meal if you've got something to celebrate. Think more 'fine casual dining' than 'pub food.'

Owned by a local French couple - everything on the menu is great, but the pastry is worth waking up early for, and the courtyard is very pretty.

Flat scenic trail with no vehicles, gorgeous views down to the South Island, and a dozen deserted beaches on the way.
Just be careful going in a strong Northerly wind - it's an easy walk with the wind at your back, but harder coming home!

If you like a good bush walk, the park has something for everyone, from an easy 40min loop, to several hours along the ridge. All the tracks wind through really special native bush and all those close to our house have outstanding harbour views.

Getting here or exploring by bus
Google 'Metlink Wellington' to see the bus info.
The 81 route runs during the week and goes directly from across the street from our house, through Petone, right into Wellington CBD, stopping throughout at the most popular spots like Lambton Quay and Courtenay Place.
The 83 bus does the same thing, but takes a detour to Queensway Mall and Lower Hutt CBD on the way.
To see when the next bus is coming, go to the Metlink site and type our stop number 8854.

A must!
Great for a day trip to Wellington to soak up the culture, or across to Matiu/Some Island, recently voted one of the top 101 attractions in NZ.
You can buy a ticket on the boat, so just rock up a few min before the departure time, sit down, and someone will come find you.
