Historical site downtown Merida
Merida´s downtown has retained much of its old colonial charm. This site is so artsy, you feel like you've taken a step back in history! The tour guides are very friendly and helpful. Founded in 1542 by the conquistadors, Mérida's historic downtown - where some of the city's top attractions and most popular things to do can be found - is laid out with streets that run at right angles to one another, making it much easier to navigate than most other Mexican towns.
