Food scene
Breads on Oak is the best bakery in the city! From pastries to cookies to hearty breads, sandwiches, soups, and King Cake (during Mardi Gras season), it's vegan-friendly and AHHHHMAZING. It has a small indoor seating area and an outdoor courtyard at the original Oak Street location. Due to popularity, they just opened up a second location closer to downtown.

Looking for a place to have a hearty, but clean meal after a late night out? Satsuma has three locations (Uptown on Maple, Lower Garden District on Magazine, and in the Bywater) and offers fresh, farm-to-table options, fresh-squeezed juices, and vegan-friendly options. The Magazine Street location is situated adjacent to a wine bar, so if you want a mimosa, you can make that happen at that location.

8640 Oak StLooking for a fun, festive, but casual place to enjoy classic New Orleans cuisine? Jacques Imo's is the place and it's only a couple of miles from the house. If you're not traveling with children, the Maple Leaf Bar (right next door to Jacques-Imo's) is a great place to check out live music later in the evening.

Park
Audubon Park is a beautiful park near the Tulane campus with ponds and a canopy of oak trees and hanging Spanish moss. It has a 1.87 mile running/walking/biking loop around one of the most picturesque municipal golf courses in the country. There are large play structures for kids on the St Charles Avenue side of the park.

New Orleans is home to the largest go-kart track in the country, and the track also hosts Xtreme Xperience, which is your opportunity to track a super car! This is fun for the whole family, but be sure to check the website for hours and other special events! nolamotor.com

Rock and Bowl is a classic New Orleans institution. It's walking distance from my house and is fun for all ages. There's a bar. There's live music. There's dancing. There's bowling. There's food and there's another restaurant next door.

The Marigny is THE place to go in New Orleans for live music. It's not unusual to see a Grammy-winning local artist for a $10-cover at a local pub on Frenchman Street. My two personal favorites are D.B.A. and Snug Harbor, but Frenchman Street (located right behind the French Quarter) is full of great spots to enjoy the live music that New Olreans is so famous for.

Museums
If you're traveling with children, then the BRAND NEW Louisiana Children's Museum is can't-miss. It's located in the middle of our beautiful City Park (which also has an art museum, free sculpture garden, miniature golf, a train, and a mini-amusement park). BONUS: The restaurant in the Children's Museum is REALLY GOOD!
