This is a great place for a burger not to mention their homemade chips and yummy truffle fries. They have several specialty burgers on their menu, my favorite is the Magic Mushroom burger. Enjoy a delicious milkshakes and or a potent margarita or Colorado craft beer. Enjoy!

This is one of the gems of Johnstown. They are coveted for their delectable breakfast items but lunch is also a hit. Their larger portions are sure to satisfy you with a doggie bag to go. Splurge for a mimosa or their Bloody Mary Bar. Check their hours prior to going. (970) 408-EGGS

Cookies, cookies, cookies, need I say more. This is THE place for serious cookie connoisseurs. Their menu changes weekly with new concoctions introduced as well as their regular favorites. I personally love the cornbread cookie and the chocolate chip cookie is divine. You can’t go wrong for whatever your taste buds are craving.

Estes Park is a tourist destination and the gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park. There are so many things to do from shopping, to restaurants, lots of physical activities and don’t forget the historic tram. Bring comfy shoes to hiking boots if you plan to take your adventure off the sidewalks. Bring a jacked as it cools off in the evening and the weather changes with the drop of a hat.

This is an amazing place to get your steps in… there is not much this store doesn’t have. While you may have flown in and don’t want to take items back, it is great to look around for ideas or inspiration.

Shopping, Food Scene, Fuel and More!

Bucc-ee’s - Need I say more! Bucc-ee’s has one serious following. You can get gas, shop, get convenient items/snacks, pick up some delicious food and get on your way.
Make no mistake, this may have a Berthoud mailing address but this is Johnstown’s Buc-ee’s! This location is Colorado’s first and only Buc-ee’s, so far! This is the largest store in their corporate fleet of stores. (so far) Stop in for the experience, fill up with their very competitive gas prices, an unprecedented shopping selection, a cult following barbecue, convenient store items, a beef jerky bar, a fudge bar, bakery goods and they are known for the cleanest bathrooms. (I know!) This is NOT a sit down and dine in establishment! Grab your food and come back and eat in your accommodations or out on the patio soaking in the backyard views of the mountains or catch a beautiful Colorado sunset.

Culture

A place to soak in local events, a place to relax, read a little, tour a local museum or historic site. Maybe take in a local festival!
Welcome to The Parish House, our little slice of Johnstown history. The founder of Johnstown, Harvey Parish, named Johnstown after his son John. This gem of a home is full of historical treasures. Open every Wednesday 9:00 am to 12:00 pm or by appt. Call the museum to schedule your private tour. (Google it as Airbnb does not allow me to share links or phone number) Bummer!

Pop in and have a look around. We are mighty proud of our library. We have a “Maker Space” where you can create a plethora of crafty to seriously cool items. This is not a basic library. Be have story time for kids, and a great selection of book. Not to mention “The Library of Things” where you can check out a record player, albums, kayak, paddle board and more. You will need a library card for some services so if you have local friends or relatives that has a card, then that is your in.

Nights Cool Down.

Bring a jacket, hoodie or a flannel. Even on warmer months our nights cool down. We are roughly 5000 ft above sea level. If you head up into the mountains for a hike or sightseeing, be prepared for afternoon storms. We have a saying, “if you don’t like the weather in Colorado, wait 5 minutes”, as it has been known to change quickly. I moved here in late August and when visiting Estes Park, dressed in shorts, it snowed. If hiking, dress in layers and bring plenty of water. Altitude sickness happens and if you can stay VERY hydrated, hopefully it will not happen to you.
