A local favorite's destination for Japanese cuisine. The location is new (original was destroyed by the 2011 tornado), but the food remains top notch. Hard to go wrong no matter your preference: sushi or hibachi.

Okay, I will: This is the no fuss steakhouse dreams are made of. Get there early because there's going to be a wait. Fortunately, the Nicodemus will keep you plenty happy during that time. I don't recommend more than 1 (or 2, depending on the wait) for the driver.

Home of the world-renowned "Yellow Hammer". Drink a water in between rounds, especially if you find yourself here on an Alabama Football game weekend, where they tend to pack a little more *subtle* punch than normal.
They'll sneak up on you.

Food is okay, but boy is this the place to be for bar games. Darts, pool tables, local tournaments, poker nights. A good place to go for those serious about such things.

Located between "The Strip" and downtown's "Temerson Square", Innisfree has above average (even "good" by some standards) pub fare and excellent drink prices. The crowd can become significant on U of A game weekends, but otherwise is manageable.

Tailgate meca. If you're here for a University of Alabama Football game weekend, the quad will be buzzing with tailgates, radio broadcasts, tv broadcasts, food trailers, and inflatables/obstacle courses for the kids. Otherwise, this is a great place to take your shoes off, relax, or toss the frisbee and football.

Uber for easy travel
During University of Alabama organized events such as football game weekends, graduation, etc., we highly recommend traveling via ridesharing services such as Uber and Lyft when available. The city grows from a population of about 100K to 250K during such events, so, parking can become a nightmare.
