Sightseeing

Very easy to find and to access. If you are driving there is a large underground car park on site with lifts direct to the entry level. The zoo is fairly compact and very well laid out and maintained. The onsite restaurant is ok although prices could be a little better - our advice is to eat at around 1330 as by 1400 there is always a queue.

Lliria is known as the city of music. Take a look at the Roman ruins, the Arab Baths or climb the hill to the church of St Michael. The street market on a Thursday is always good value and there are plenty of restaurants and cafes from which you can people watch whilst enjoying a coffee or eating your lunch. Just down the road is the castle at Benisanó. Lliria also has a metro station which allows direct access to the centre of Valencia.

Chulilla is just beautiful. Whether a walk up the hill to the castle or a walk down the hill to the river the place has a sight round every corner. Swimming in the river in summer is very popular and it can sometimes become crowded. Chulilla is the centre for rock climbing in Valencia and has climbs to suit all abilities.

Food scene

This is our favourite local restaurant, only 10 km from the cabin. Set menus start from €21, our favourite is the Menu de Gustation for around €24. The €28 menu includes all of your local wine, beer or soft drinks. The food is Spanish and fantastic... a million miles away from your run of the mill paella.

Neighborhoods

Casinos is 'our' village. Just 4 km from the cabin it has shops, restaurants and supermarkets as well as a pharmacy, tobacconist and a doctors surgery. Casinos is a small town of around 2500 people and is mainly tuned to agriculture … in particular the production of oranges and almonds. It is famous for Turron (Spanish nougat ) and Peladillos (sugared almonds) and there are several shops on the high street selling these goodies. Each year in November here is a week long festival to celebrate all things turron. The people are friendly and welcoming. Don't be surprised if you don't recognise their 'spanish' because the most used language in the village is Velenciano.
