Creative take on Indian cuisine. Uses local ingredients. Vimla's is a local institution and started out of her home. She is very active serving the local community in myriad ways. Outdoor seating in good weather. Not your typical Indian restaurant. Not fancy but excellent food.

Weaver Street is the best! It is where locals hang out, go for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack, coffee, meet up with friends. It is the local Coop selling many locally made products. Very healthy food choices. Plenty of outdoor seating, great place to people watch. Sometimes there are events, check the website. Very family friendly!

Food scene
Best value for healthy food. This place is an institution. A favorite for catering events at UNC and they have a location on campus for the students. A lot of the food is locally sourced. They make their own pita and use local flour. Casual.

Cute, historic, Haw river mill village about 20ish minutes from Chapel Hill. Very tiny, not even a traffic light, but the old mill has been restored and now has a coffee shop, restaurant/bar. The food in the General Store is really popular (breakfast/lunch). In good weather, the deck overlooking the river in The Eddy Pub is a great spot. There is some kayaking in that area as well. https://www.theeddypub.com/saxapahaw

Loads to do here, especially in the Tobacco District where the old buildings have been converted to restaurants, shops, the arts. There is loads to do in Durham, just google it. Too many restaurants to mention them all.
The Nasher Gallery at Duke is nice and right near Duke Gardens, lovely to visit in any season.
DPAC for shows, Carolina Theater for shows and films.
