The start of the Civil War. A cool ferry ride to an hour self guided state park, PArk Rangers are very knowledgeable, the fort itself, has not be restored, so expect to see the "ruins" of the fort.
Great tip ---- Take the 1st boat of the day out and Help raise the 10x20Ft American Flag on the Fort. Boats leave from Downtown Charleston and Mt Pleasant by The USS Yorktown complex .
