Stunning island around 40 minutes' drive south from Hobart. Take the 15 minute ferry at Kettering, or else take a tour with Bruny Island Cruises, or one of several other tourist operators. Oysters, cheese, wine, beer, art, all local produce. Also your host's home. If you're driving, take care on the roads and watch for wildlife. Avoid peak periods where possible due to queues. Going to Bruny in the afternoon and leaving Bruny in the morning is best. Lots of AirBnBs on Bruny to choose from.

This is a beautiful nature park, great for walks and nice views. Dogs love it too. John Glover, one of Australia's best known colonial painters, used to paint the view to the city from there.

Bruny Island is one of the most famous and beautiful places in Tasmania to visit. We can give you special tips to ensure your trip is as enjoyable as possible. There is good cheese, beer, wine and oysters, but the walks are the best part of Bruny Island. The view from the Neck (the join between north and south Bruny Island) is famous, but there are much nicer places to visit if you like walking. Just ask us! If you're driving, road safety is very important. Please be careful of wildlife which often jump in front of the car. Keep left, and if you are driving slowly, please let people pass you on the road. NEVER stop on the road to take a photograph. Pull over to the side off the road where it is safe. Again, just ask us for special tips, including best ways to get to Bruny and driving tips.

A beautiful spot and great for walking. It goes straight past the bottom of our property. You can get there via a local track a few minutes from the Arthouse Hobart and saunter into the city or go walk to the famous Cascade Beer factory and other tourist spots.

Taxis are reliable and quite cheap
If you don't have a car, it only costs about $10 (less with an Uber) to drive in and out of the city. Cheaper than car hire, and you don't need to worry about paying for parking. Although we do have off street parking at the Arthouse.

Walking into the city is beautiful
The walk from the Arthouse into the city centre is very easy; downhill with glorious water views. It takes about 15 minutes at a brisk rate and 30 minutes at a much more casual pace. The way home is uphill, which we love, but a taxi is easier and costs about $10.
