Food Scene

The Titanic Hotel opened in 2017 and was formerly the world famous Harland & Wolffe drawing offices, where all their ships were designed. Eat in the Bistro rather than the restaurant - its a bit cheaper and you get to enjoy the spacious barrel ceiled room where the SS Titanic was actually designed. A decent kids menu is available.

Arts & Culture

Voted the best tourist attraction in the world for 2017 this is an unmissable highlight for any visit to Belfast. Interactive galleries include a ride on journey to learn how the Titanic was built, wrap around holographic tours of its interior, a detailed account of the sinking and video of its final resting place. Great shop and hospitality offer too, all within an architecturally breath-taking building.

From the apartment balcony you can see the 150' high belltower of St Mark's Church of Ireland. This magnificent Gothic Revival style Church was constructed in striking red and cream sandstone by the eminent Victorian architect William Butterworth, who also designed Keble College Oxford. Sir John Betjeman described it as "Butterworth at his best". The interiors are equally beautiful and filled with light. St Mark's is also notable for bieng the place of worship of the young CS Lewis, who was raised in a large house nearby. It is said that the lion shaped door knocker on the front of the church was the original inspiration for Aslan, in the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.

Dominating the views from the apartment is Harland & Wolff's mighty gantry crane, Goliath. Standing at 96m it is slightly smaller than its sibling Samson, standing at 106m. The cranes were installed in 1969 and 1974 respectively, when Harland & Wolff was still one of the largest shipyards in the world. The striking yellow cranes quickly became a symbol of the city, and are famous the world over. Note: Samson & Goliath are still working cranes and are built on moveable rails. If Goliath is not on view from the apartment then it is working further up the Yard. However, don't worry as it will be back in place soon!
