Its top is accessed via a 41.80 m long ramp. and 9 m high. Its shape has no equal throughout the Mediterranean and Europe, and is very reminiscent of the Mesopotamian terrace altars called ziggurat. The history of this area begins around 4200 BC. when there was a village of circular huts. To 3500 BC goes back to the sacred area of the menhirs, attributable to the Ozieri culture: a menhir m. 4.70 m in squared limestone, found overturned, has now been re-erected in its place of origin.
