Great French food, great atmosphere, and just about 4 blocks from the house. One of my favorite special restaurants for a quarter century - long before I got to live so near. Also a great place to hear live music!

Delicious BBQ! One of our favorites. The brussel sprouts are so good and the brisket is a must have. Just cross the Magnolia Bridge, head toward Carrollton, then take a left at Moss & Carrollton. You'll be there in just a few minutes.

The beignets are light, crisp on the outside, and fluffy on the inside - the absolute best in town! That and the table service sets the historic Morning Call apart as the best coffee stand in town! Bar none other.
Located at the end of the Canal Cemeteries streetcar line next door to Bud's Broiler, these 2 Mid City restaurants have been a part of New Orleans' family/dating scene for decades.

Love Lola's, some of the best Spanish food in the city. They now sell wine, beer, & great sangria, but they've held over their corking policy, so you can bring a bottle of special wine with you. Food is great!

Drinks & Nightlife
I chose "bar" category because I believe they check id's after about 8 or 9 at night, but this is the most awesome bowling alley ever and my kids attended many an elementary school birthday party at the RNB! Live music and I mean GOOD live music. It may be rock, it may be cajun, they love it all... check the Gambit magazine to see what's happening at the Rock-N-Bowl Mid City Lanes.

Moss Street is a wonderful place to take a stroll around. You'll often find a wedding or other event happening on the Magnolia Bridge. People walk dogs, kayak in the bayou, and picnic on the grass around Bayou St John, which is a naturally occurring body of water that once was a meeting place for indigenous people and was used by Bienville to access the area which became the French Quarter, the oldest European part of the city.

The RTA or Rideshare Apps are the best way to get around
There are some terrific bus routes near the property for getting to the French Quarter, the CBD, or Uptown. Use the public transportation option of google maps to determine the fastest route, then use the RTA GoMobile App to purchase tickets and track bus/streetcar times.
Uber and Lyft are also great options. Off of rush hour it usually costs less than $15 to get anywhere in the city and cars will typically arrive within 10 minutes.
