Parks & Nature

The most stunning view on this side of the island! Views of the valleys that stretch all the way to Waipio Valley. Just take in the view, or hike down the zig-zag trail (bring water!!) and go for a dip at the black sand beach below...please only go in if the water looks calm, this is one of the strongest undertows on the island!

Great snorkeling in the morning (especially), sunsets, whale watching, a hike along the old coastal railroad North or just a quick dip in the clear waters. This is an old harbor that cattle and sugar cane was once launched from. A very local hangout, so please respect the locals that frequent here daily.

The most beautiful white sandy beach on this side of the island (in my opinion)... Parking is limited, so try to go early! or maybe later in the afternoon if you miss the early slot. Pricey, yet delicious cocktails and food served at the hotel's bar on the beach if you don't pack a lunch.

Ocean access beach park. Great sunset, whale-watching bbq-ing spot close to town. Bring your snorkel if you feel adventurous...but don't drift too far, as this is not a lifeguard area and can be quite dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. Otherwise, just come enjoy the views of Maui and the whales!

Beautiful, long hike up a steep Pu'u (hill) about 40-45 mins from our place. Stunning views from the top of the West side of the island (on a clear day!). It's a warm-hot hike to the base of the hill, then at the top it can be quite cold! So bring a jacket and maybe a picnic! Bring lots of water, and pack out what you pack in please.
